Earlier this year I had the pleasure of reading Akata Witch, the first of this series and hailed as the “Nigerian Harry Potter.” While I definitely saw the similarities, the book stood on its own and continues to expand this beautifully rich world in Akata Warrior. Much like the first book, I found myself falling into Okorafor’s world more so than her characters. It’s been a year […]
Good morning, friends! Today I’m excited to share my review of The Scot Beds His Wife, the newest book in Kerrigan Byrne’s Victorian Rebels series! Make sure to check out the giveaway after the review to win a copy for yourself! Oh goodness, this book was such a fun read! I read this without reading the previous books in the series (except The Duke but I didn’t see any […]
What do you do when you believe everything you’re told? It’s crazy, hearing that. Sounds like fiction. Which, in this case, it is though I know a few people out there that fit the description too… In Lauren’s case, it’s extreme and the surgery she has makes her truly see the truth. It’s not pretty. I wasn’t really sure about The Innocence Treatment. I know my […]
This. Book. I have so many words and none all at once. I suppose that’s what happens when you read one of your most anticipated titles of the year. Y’all may recall how much I adored the first in this series, A Shadow Bright and Burning. It was, by far, one of my favorite YA fantasies of 2016 and the wait for A Poison Dark and Drowning was […]
Happy Tuesday, everyone! The Jane, Unlimited tour is stopping by the blog today and I can’t wait to share my review with y’all (as well as a giveaway or two)! This is probably the oddest book I’ve read in a long time. Because of that, I had a really hard time giving this book any sort of rating so bear with me on this one y’all. […]
Y’all I am SO excited to kick off the blog tour for Chloe Neill’s THE HUNT. If you didn’t know, I’m not only a big fan of this series but her other books as well so it’s pretty awesome that I get to share my review (and a few cool giveaways) with y’all today! Keep scrolling for my review of the third book in the […]
I had such high hopes for this book. To be honest, I was sold the second I read “old Norse gods” in the synopsis. I’m such a sucker for anything related to Norse mythology so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Berserker. And while it wasn’t a bad read by any means, it didn’t really spark any strong interest in me either. So. Berserker is […]
I hadn’t actually planned on reading this one after disliking The Ones but I broke down and gave this one a try. Once again I was disappointed with this book and the world the author has created. While the world-building wasn’t far fetched in terms of reality and the potential future ahead of us, there was nothing to make it stand out in the dystopian genre […]
I had my doubts about reading this book after Nemesis just wasn’t a great read for me, and honestly I probably should have listened to them. Ally continues the story set forth in the first book, now with tensions high between Sepora and Tarik as they try to do best by their people and their hearts. And I honestly couldn’t care about any of it. For starters, it […]
