Ten Facts About the Novel Knight

For this week’s top ten, you get to learn a little more about me! I hesitate to call these the “top” ten facts about me as I’m sure that’s subjective on its own, but here they are! I chose do list 5 book/blog related things and 5 oddballs. And for a bit more, you can check my About page.

(This is NOT the synopsis of my novel but was an idea that inspired it.)

The Bookish Stuff

  • I sometimes pick my current reads based on my mood (some nights that cliche romance is what I’m craving, others it’s all blood and gore of a hardcore fantasy) but I also read a lot of titles based on when I plan to review them (if they’re upcoming releases, etc.).
  • I wrote a full-lenth novel, clocking in at around 110k words (and it will never see the light of day outside of a proof copy from Createspace).
  • I have never met an author in person (not by choice, mind you, just never had the opportunity).
  • I never intended to run a book blog when I started blogging about 6-7 years ago; it emerged from a writing blog I started but wanted to add more content to.
  • I am strongly against dog-earring pages, folding covers back, and writing directly in books — do it to your copies but if you borrow a book from me, don’t even think about it (someone did this and said that it wasn’t their problem because it wasn’t their book… we’re not friends anymore…).

The… Other Stuff

  • I tend to eat a baked potato with my sour cream (instead of the other way around).
  • I’m absolutely 100% obsessed with red pandas (and even had the chance to study them for a summer while working at a zoo). The red panda below is one of the ones I was studying; was able to snag a couple pictures before she went back into hiding.
  • My spirit animal is Mushu because I like to think of myself as a scary dragon but I’m more like a tiny lizard.
  • I’ve never had a solid nickname that wasn’t used to make fun of me (high school is a bitch).
  • If I could have any magical gift, I would either want to be able to talk to/transform into animals or control metal and infuse it with life.

Leave a fact about yourself in the comments and/or a link to your latest post so I can check it out!

Well hello there! I see you’ve reached the end of the post. Bummer. But perhaps I may interest you in a comment? And in case you were wondering, I’m a 20-something college grad with a piece of paper that says I know about wildlife. Reviewer of books since 2011, amateur photographer by day, and aspiring author by night. I believe animals (and books) are better than people.
