It’s been a while since I’ve read a book by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast (I think I stopped somewhere in the middle of the House of Night series?) so I was hesitant about reading The Dysasters. Don’t get me wrong, I was excited about the premise. Superhero stories are starting to become more of a thing and I’m a fan […]
Something you may not know about me is that I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As with any book made into a movie or based on an existing canon, I was worried about how everything would play out. Slayer is set-up as a sequel to the show and I have to say: it worked. Granted, it’s been years since I watched Buffy […]
Disturbing, morbid, and utterly fascinating, Not Even Bones was not the book I expected but everything I could have asked for nonetheless. There are dark YA novels, and then there’s this book. It’s not scary or creepy, not a thriller to keep you up at night, but it’s so very dark. Nita, the protagonist, dissects “people,” creatures that resemble humans a […]
Cast No Shadow is not only the first graphic novel I’ve ever read, but also the first I’ve ever reviewed so it was an interesting experience all around. We have Greg, a teen dealing with family troubles, a friend who has more going on in her life beside him, and suddenly a ghost in an abandoned house near town. I […]
The end is here. No, really, the end of the world is just around the corner and Jackaby has a house full of supernatural creatures while Abigail attempts to create order amidst the chaos. Much like how these novels seem to go. All the players are here as well as a few new ones in the conclusion of the Jackaby series. Though […]
I have mixed feelings about Bond’s work. My previous experiences with it had me loving one book (Girl on a Wire) and disliking the next (Girl in the Shadows) so I wasn’t sure what to expect from Strange Alchemy, especially as it’s listed as a revised version of her first book. I’ll say this for it: this book is certainly different […]
It feels like ages since I’ve stepped into this world. I first stumbled upon this series when I bought The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker during an eBook sale. Imagine my surprise when I found the book in print, along with its sequel, years later AND heard there was going to be a prequel. SO. EXCITED. And Perilous Prophecy didn’t disappoint! […]
