And here ends the story of Artemis Fowl. In terms of finales, I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with The Last Guardian. Much of the book’s plot feels no different than previous books. In fact, the stakes don’t feel nearly as high as some of the earlier adventures in the series. Yet as a conclusion, it ends on a somewhat satisfying […]
As the series begins to draw to a close with The Atlantis Complex as the second to last book, I see the story spiraling in all different directions and not necessarily in the good way. Throughout the Artemis Fowl books, my favorite part has always been Artemis’s genius schemes (whether they’re for good or evil). But in the seventh book, he loses […]
Yet again, the Artemis Fowl takes another twisted turn and jumps from demons to time travel in The Time Paradox. Artemis’s mother is sick and he has to travel back in time and save the one creature that can cure her (which he happened to have a hand in driving to extinction). This book was better than the fifth (though I […]
Five books in and the Artemis Fowl series has started becoming repetitive BUT WITH DEMONS! You know, have to mix things up. Each book in the series has followed a pattern of sorts. It’s something I’ve come to expect, but usually there’s more of a twist, something to break it up. In the case of The Lost Colony, that twist was […]
Following my favorite book in the series (The Eternity Code), I’ve always found The Opal Deception to be a bit. . . disconnected. Good, entertaining as always, but the narrative takes a notable shift toward Holly and the People. Opal Koboi, introduced previously as a potential antagonist, goes full-on villain and might be as smart (or even smarter, dare I say) than our […]
Not going to lie, The Eternity Code is probably my favorite book of the series. It’s actually the first book I picked up at my school’s book fair, catching my eye with its shiny blue cover, and I hadn’t realized it was part of a series until after I got home (so of course I had to get the rest of the […]
The second in the series, The Arctic incident is a fun read and while not my favorite book of the eight, still adheres to the boy genius antics that made me love the first book. I like that book 2 focused more on Artemis and his relationship with his father, which is mentioned several times throughout the first book and […]
