The Sunshine Blogger Award

POSTED ON December 1, 2016 BY Austine IN Blog Award

Thank you to Flavia the Bibliophile for nominating me for this award. It’s my first!

The Rules:

  • Answer the 11 questions from the nominator
  • Nominate 11 blogs
  • Ask them 11 questions

The Questions

  1. Which 2016 release are you most looking forward to?
There’s only one month of 2016 left but I can’t wait for Crystal Storm by Morgan Rhodes because the Falling Kingdoms series is amazing and I NEED this next book.

  2. Which 2017 release are you most looking forward to?
…I have no idea. There are so many! I mean A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas is a definite but also Caraval by Stephanie Garber but I read that this year and of course haven’t read ACOWAR.
Please don’t make me choose between them! 😉

  3. Do you like the bookish social media scene? Why?
Sometimes. I’ll be honest, I didn’t really get into it until more recently and it was great for a while but where some aspects of the community are amazing others aren’t so much. There’s been a lot of discussion turned drama/hate this year and I ended up taking a small step back because of it.

  4. If a book and its movie adaptation are both available for your reading or viewing pleasure, which do you go for first?
Always the book first. Depending on if I liked it and how much, I might watch the adaptation. Still haven’t watched the Shadowhunters show because I don’t want those books possibly ruined.

  5. Do you prefer physical, traditional books? Or e-books?
Both! Ebooks are great to read at night since my eReader has a backlight but they can be hard on my eyes after several hours. And regular books are great for collecting and reading at literally any other time but night.

  6. What kind of music do you listen to when you’re reading (or do you not listen to music)?
I prefer (relative) silence. General sounds like my dogs playing or something like that is fine but I can’t listen to music unless it’s turned down really low and I forgot to turn it off.

  7. If you were offered a bundle of bookmarks, or a bookish candle, which would you choose?
Candle! I have WAY too many bookmarks that end up not getting used.

  8. Are you in the mood for particular kinds of books during different seasons of the year? Such as classics during the Fall, or beach reads during Summer?
I’m a mood reader but not by season. I just read whatever fits my mood based on what’s going on in my life.

  9. Do you actively keep up with book trends? Or do you just go for what sounds good to you, no matter the year of release?
This year I did more than usual but that was partially because a lot of this year’s releases and next year’s debuts are books I wanted to read anyway or series I follow so it was a bit of both. Otherwise I just read whatever!

  10. Do you read more than one book at once?
Sometimes! If I can’t get into a book I may pick up another. And another. But I go back to those eventually and either finish or DNF them.

  11. What are you reading now?
Coming off NaNoWriMo with very few books read so think I’m going to tackle Breeana Shields’ Poison’s Kiss next!

My Questions for You

  1. If you could have one book turned into a Disney movie, what would you pick?
  2. What book/genre is your guilty pleasure?
  3. An OTP that you never planned to ship (but now can’t imagine NOT shipping them)?
  4. Do you buy multiple editions of books?
  5. A character you would bring back to life?
  6. If you could relive one book as if it was the first time reading it, which would you choose? Why?
  7. What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever used as a bookmark?
  8. What book do you wish you had written?
  9. What book or series needs its own Funko POP figures (or action figures if you’re not a fan of funkos)?
  10. Are you part of any fandoms? What’s your favorite?
  11. Best snack while reading?

Well hello there! I see you’ve reached the end of the post. Bummer. But perhaps I may interest you in a comment? And in case you were wondering, I’m a 20-something college grad with a piece of paper that says I know about wildlife. Reviewer of books since 2011, amateur photographer by day, and aspiring author by night. I believe animals (and books) are better than people.

  1. Haha yes, I know that the first question didn’t leave you many options, as 2016 is almost over. I won’t make you choose between ACOWAR and Caraval, haha! I’m also so so so excited for both of those! And I get what you mean about some things becoming quite negative and hateful, and I’ve also had to just close the Twitter app or close the tab if I’m on my laptop and take a mental step back.

The Shadowhunter show…I watched from beginning to end, although maybe not because I enjoyed it? I’ve never read the books, but my sister has, and she wanted to watch the show. I was just along for the ride, and I kinda wanted to know what happens…if that makes sense.

I would choose the candle too, because I also have a bunch of bookmarks that I obviously can’t use all at once.

And that Poison Kiss book sounds intriguing! I may have to look it up.

Thanks so much for answering my questions! I loved reading them and also, I’m loving the new layout! Like aaaaah!!!

    • Oh good because Caraval was AMAZING and I have a feeling ACOWAR is just going to wreck my soul.

Yeah I’ve done that a few times. There’s always been a little bit of that in the community but it just seems to have gotten worse in the last year… hell, in the last few months. Just gotta step back sometimes.

I read all the books and the prequels, and while I know some people like the show, I just can’t bring myself to watch them. If I hadn’t read the books, probably be a different story.

My bookmark mug is filled to capacity and I STILL use whatever object I have closest to mark my place lol. And yes! It’s an early January release, will be posting my review this month.

You’re welcome, and thank you!! ^_^ I didn’t mind the old one but definitely happier with this one now!
